Not more than 60 credits must be gained from ME-, MO-, or HI-coded 2000-level modules.
Selection must include HI2001 unless HIST301 has already been passed.
If two consecutive modules of foreign language study have NOT already been taken, then selection should include these (as per list in first year requirements box), plus any remaining credits to meet breadth requirements.
Students are encouraged to continue in their chosen language if they wish.

Further requirements

Choose 120 credits in academic year

Up to 30 credits may be taken in the chosen language, in progression from the previous level studied, in place of the 30 credits from module list: ME3000-3999, MO3000-3999 option HI4997 and HI4999 require permission from an Honours Adviser.

Across the 4 Years:
- At least two modules must be completed in American History.
- At least two modules must be completed in British and/or European History.
- At least two modules must be completed in Non-Western History.


Study abroad

In the case of students who spend part of the Honours programme on a recognised Study Abroad scheme, the Programme Requirements will be amended to take into account overseas courses which are approved by the relevant St Andrews School in the Learning Agreement (see www.st-andrews.ac.uk/students/study-abroad/academic ).
