BSc Honours

The general requirements are 480 credits over a period of normally four years (and not more than five years) or part-time equivalent, of which the final two years form an approved Honours programme of 240 credits, of which 90 credits are at 4000 level and at least a further 120 credits at 3000 and/or 4000 levels.

BPS recognition for Psychology Degree: Passes in PS3021, PS3022, PS3031, PS3032, PS3033, PS3034, (PS3035 or PS3036), (PS3037 or PS3038), PS4040 and (PS4050 or PS4796) are required for recognition by the British Psychological Society. In order to be eligible for accreditation, students must gain at least a Lower Second Class Honours degree. This recognition is required for those who wish to gain employment as professional psychologists.

Students must select 45 credits from the Computer Science element.

British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation

Passes in PS3021, PS3022, PS3031, PS3032, PS3033, PS3034, (PS3035 or PS3036 or PN3313), (PS3037 or PS3038), PS4040 and (PS4050 or PS4299 or PN4299) are required for recognition by the British Psychological Society. Due to current to timetable clashes, this may not be possible for degrees in combination with Theological Studies, Economics, History, International Relations, Management, or Social Anthropology. This recognition is required for those who wish to gain employment as professional psychologists.

Study abroad

In the case of students who spend part of the Honours programme on a recognised Study Abroad scheme, the Programme Requirements will be amended to take into account overseas courses which are approved by the relevant St Andrews School in the Learning Agreement (see www.st-andrews.ac.uk/students/study-abroad/academic ).
