Students who meet the requirements specified above, and who meet all other programme requirements, will be given automatic entry into Honours programmes.

The general requirements are 480 credits over a period of normally four years (and not more than five years) or part-time equivalent, of which the final two years form an approved Honours programme of 240 credits, of which 90 credits are at 4000 or 5000 level and at least a further 120 credits at 3000 and/or 4000 or 5000 levels.

Further requirementsChoose 120 credits in academic year Students must take 180 credits from EC3301 - EC3350, EC4401 - EC4499, EC5201 - EC5203 over third and fourth years.Access to EC5201 - EC5203 is only available with the permission of the Director of Teaching to students in the Second Year of an Honours Programme who have achieved at least 17.5 in a relevant module, namely, EC3303 or EC3306 for EC5201, EC3302 or EC3505 for EC5202, in EC4401 for EC5203 Final Year students in 2019/0 must ensure they have taken at least 20 credits from EC3302-EC3350, EC4401 over third and fourth year. With permission from the Director of Teaching 20 credits in Fourth Year may be replaced with ID4002 and EC4422. Permission must be gained in Third Year (studnts cannot apply for permission in the Fourth year September advising session. |
In the case of students who spend part of the Honours programme on a recognised Study Abroad scheme, the Programme Requirements will be amended to take into account overseas courses which are approved by the relevant St Andrews School in the Learning Agreement (see www.st-andrews.ac.uk/students/study-abroad/academic ).
